Chuck Session
Chuck Session is a retired Executive at Duke Energy. He served as vice president of government affairs for Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky and was responsible for leading local and state government and regulatory policies, strategies and relationships impacting the company’s interests in Ohio and Kentucky, and those of its 880,000 electric customers and 550,000 natural gas customers. Prior to that role in 2018, Chuck was vice president of government and community affairs for Duke Energy Kentucky. He was responsible for leading local / state government affairs, local community relations with the company’s key stakeholders in Northern Kentucky and led Duke Energy’s economic development activities in both Ohio and Kentucky. Chuck worked for Duke Energy and its predecessor companies for 42 years.
Early in Chuck’s career, he was a district manager responsible for customer service, transmission, and distribution operations. He later promoted to area manager, where he oversaw customer service, community relations and regulatory affairs for the company. He also served as a manager in Duke Energy’s meter reading department, which coordinated the reading of 1.4 million natural gas and electric meters in Ohio and Kentucky.
Before relocating to Northern Kentucky in 2014, Chuck worked in Charlotte, N.C., where he was the director of the lab services team that provided services such as meter testing, rubber goods testing and small tool repair for all six of Duke Energy’s regulated jurisdictions.
Chuck has served on numerous boards over his career including Tri-Ed Economic Development, Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, Kentucky State Chamber and Leadership Kentucky. He was chosen by his peers to receive the Lisa Murrell Award in recognition of the courage, compassion, dedication, and selflessness he demonstrated over the course of the program.
In 2021, Chuck was honored with the 2021 Horizon Award, which recognizes extraordinary contributions of an individual who exemplifies dedication, integrity, and honorable service to Northern Kentucky through community leadership. In June of 2022, he received the Northern Kentucky Community Service Award, November of 2022 the NKY Tribune Image Maker Award and in November of 2022, The Men of Honor Award in the greater Cincinnati Region, a salute to African American Men who have succeeded against all odds and achieved special greatness.
A native of Clinton, Ind., Chuck earned a business degree from Brevard College in Brevard, N.C., and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from MacMurray College. in Jacksonville, Ill.
In his spare time, Chuck enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and volunteering at his church and in the community. Chuck and his wife, Maida, have one daughter.
He recently began a second career and serves as the Executive in Residence Kentucky for United Way, working to help Northern Kentucky families achieve sustained economic mobility.
